Greenways Trust started the year on a high note, stepping away from daily routines for a day of outdoor fun and movement at the breathtaking Kai Iwi Lakes. Swapping desks for bikes and walking shoes, the team and those they support embraced the fresh air, scenic views, and friendly competition in a relaxed setting.
With two route options—a 500m loop and a 2km track—everyone could participate at their own pace. Some biked around the lake, while others took on the walking challenge. Greenways Trust was thrilled to invite their good friends from Kaurilands to join in on the action, making it a memorable and inclusive experience for all.
Beyond the physical activity, the day was about building connections and fostering a sense of community. After the event, everyone gathered to share a delicious kai, celebrating their efforts and the camaraderie that made the day special.
“A standout moment was when each participant received a medal, recognizing their commitment to getting out and supporting one another,” says event organiser Renee from Greenways Trust.
This event exemplified workplace wellbeing at its best, as staff the peoples sat side by side, enjoying each other’s company and the natural beauty around them. For many, it wasn’t just about completing the course but about pushing themselves and the sense of accomplishment that came with it.
The event was a fantastic reminder of the power of teamwork, movement, and being active together setting a positive tone for the year ahead!
